Dress up like a Moose during Hunting Season.
If you haven’t seen this video yet, it will give you a good giggle. The Metro folks came up with a super silly way to warn people about dumb ways to die (like standing on the edge of a train station platform, or dressing up like a moose during hunting season). There’s also a game for youngsters and young-hearted to play on your iPhone. Adorable graphics and silly time that’s oddly educational (and ridiculously addictive). Be prepared to wake-up tomorrow singing, “dumb ways to die, so many dumb ways to die-iy-iy…”

P.S. “Be safe around trains. A message from Metro.”

Soundmachines – Electronic mixing based on optical patterns
Soundmachines,’ created by berlin-based studio the Product for Volkswagen, translates the process of DJ-ing electronic music into a physical device, using optical recognition towards the live mixing of sound via cut-out and colored discs. Three units, which look like retro record players, translate concentric visual patterns into control signals for processing in any music software. Each disc holds three tracks and can be synced to a sequencer. It’s a facinating combination of beautiful design and some serious vibes.

For the love of Ampersand.

Ampersand_big

Don’t ask my why, I’m obsessed with ampersands. I used it graphically for a unique project, and ever since then I’ve been hooked, addicted, smitten. There’s something about the shape, a curve unlike any other symbol. And the meaning – ah yes, the meaning. To bring things together. Additive by nature. A merging of words and meaning. How can you not love &? You know you do, admit it. I’m happy to add you to the inner circle.

There is so much complexity in this world. The daily crush of busy lives. Sometimes it’s the most simple of things to bring us back – to find a brief moment of peace that lets your shoulders drop as you take a deep breath.

I love fresh flowers in the house, and lately I’ve been drawn to simple greens in glass. Lasting longer than blooms, giving that moment of ahhhh. In the powder room, on the patio, on the dining room table. Wait… I need some on my bathroom vanity. How did I miss that?

Glass with a single twig, or even with a few brown stones at the bottom is my favorite.

There’s also something about greens in a stark white vase. Still simple, but cleaner, with a hint of modern.

Either way, it’s time to breathe deeply add a bit of the outside to the inside. I’m off to hunt for the perfect twig for my vanity…
