Hello Yellow Fellow

Yellow, You Make Me Smile.
Yellow. Sunny. Warm. Bright. Cheery. Yellow. There’s an energy about yellow that sends a little zip of energy through my bones. It has an uplifting affect, shining brightly on my day. You’re a giggly color, joyful to any age. Oh yellow, you’re such a happy little fellow!

Frankenstein Has the Right Idea

What would it be like to completely reinvent your career?

Dive into an all-new job? Something completely different that what you’ve been doing for years? Yesterday, I would have answered “scary” (okay, that’s still true), but today I would answer “inspiring!” Imagine the possibilities to shed that mediocre job and dive into something that truly ignites your passion? What if you could wake up every day looking forward to work, rather than looking forward to 5:00pm? Think about getting paid to do what you love most in life. Ooooo, that sounds so exciting!

I just read Karen X Cheng’s story on Fast Company. Can I just say, “whoa!” You go girl. Talk about inspiration and being unstoppable!

Karen X. Cheng is unstoppable. Three years ago, she wanted to work for Microsoft Excel, so she put 100 hours into prepping for the interview–a tactic she’s tried elsewhere and failed with. Then she realized she didn’t want to be a product manager, so she became a designer–after learning the craft in one year. Then she realized she needed to learn how to dance–so she did that in one year, too.

One part inspiration, plus one part possibilities, plus a healthy handful of passion, topped off with a big dose of bravery = Reinvention.

Now the better question is… am *I* up for the challenge?

Washed Away

I Love the Water.
Any water. Lake, river, pond, the sea (especially). Being close to the water is like having calmness poured into my soul. It’s cleansing and energizing at the same time – always enough to wash away those tight shoulders, furrowed brow and clenched jaw. That’s all I need, just to be close to the water, and I’m whole again.

A Happy Measurement

How Is Joy Measured?
If happiness is a foot, is joy a mile? And how about bliss? Could it be that true happiness and a blissful life is endless with no measure? Ah yes… that’s the answer. Now step back. How do you get to that endless, immeasureable euphoria? Start by living joyful moments — an unexpected hug, opening a door for a stranger, paying a compliment, a touch as you pass each other in the kitchen, a handwritten card in the mail to just say hello. If you give others those simple moments of joy, I think you’ll find your life will be so joyful, it needs no measure.

Was That Intentional?

Don’t Just Live, Live With Intention.
The greatest gift to yourself? Live your life with intention. When you wake up and start your day, mean it. Don’t just follow the routine and roll through another day, really mean it. Look for moments that inspire and motivate you. Be present. Notice. An hour has gone by, what have you done? Don’t float along like a machine, be thoughtful and purposeful. Don’t just do… do with reason and intention. That, my friend, is how you leave your mark and find true meaning in that life you’re living.
