Old School, or Just Old?
I May Be Getting Old.
Or maybe I’m just old school, retro cool? One never knows – depends on who you ask, I suppose. I do love the idea, the smell, the feel of records. Thick vinyl with grooves remarkably filled with music. It’s a bit like magic, really — ridged vinyl plus a needle equals sound that moves your soul. So call me old (I suppose I am), but don’t take away my music.
You Need White Space
The Absence of Color.
White. Clean. Purity in all hues. White. A lightness for balance and parity to the dark. These are some of the white pretties floating around my head right now…
Taking flight into the white space.
Cubed sweetness on your tongue.
A kicken’ Chardonnay pleases me.
Treasures from the ocean, homes once to tiny sea creatures.
Blinded by the glare of neon lights.
The “sweetest come back ever” (aka breakfast yesterday)
Let me spell it out for you.
Oh white, you give me just the space I need ♥.
July 26th Fav4 :: iPhone Cases
Playing Dress-Up With My iPhone.
iPhone cases have become quite the statement, haven’t they? Not so much about protection from a shattered screen, now it’s all about the fashion and personal style. I’m pretty sure I could fill a closet with cases and change them like underwear every day. Hmmm, would that be too much?
My favorite 4 cases I’m coveting these days…
1. Retro Vintage Payphone by onyourcasestore on Etsy.
2. Case in Clouds by Kate Spade Saturday.
3. Giving Tree from Bonanza.
4. Groovy VW Bus by Society6.
Fresh Peach and Mozzarella Salad
Sweet Peaches On My Mind.
Warm afternoons on the patio, Madeleine Peyroux playing on the Jambox, a crisp glass of pinot gris and this wonderfully wonderful peach mozzerella salad with fresh basil from my windowsill garden. This sweet, savory summer salad is simply sublime (yes, that is 6 S’s – that’s how yummy this salad is!). Found on Real Simple via MWM (My Wonderful Mom who adores peaches) and shared with you here on julsjuls. I’m pretty sure you’ll thank me for passing this along…
What Goes In
- 3 ripe peaches
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn into small pieces or chopped
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Put It All Together
Cut each peach into 6 to 8 wedges, then cut each wedge in half crosswise. You can either peel them (my preference) or keep the skin on.
Printed Permanence
My Heart Needs To Feel Paper.
I love my Kindle and my iPad, I do. Endless sources of reading at your digital fingertips, at a moments download – it’s an instant gratification luxury. But there’s something about print that is viscerally lovely. I love the feel of paper between my fingers as each page turns. And photos? Our digital slide show of family pictures always makes me smile, but have you ever noticed you look at a photo much longer if it’s printed? I think that’s because as satisfied as our brains are by electronic imaging, our hearts will always love the permanence of print.
